Totally Wild

“Hi, I’m James Wood. I’m an artist come wild food forager based in Bollington, Cheshire. I’ve been amazed with the wild world from my childhood, finding great trees to climb, hills to roll down and even special twigs to fill my pockets with.

I began my more focussed wild food journey during a project called ‘The Foraged Book Project’ in which I led a number of foragers, artists and theorists in creating a wild food and plant guide entirely from materials found growing throughout the UK. Paper from mushrooms, ink from plant extracts and glues from seaweeds. During this extensive research in to the whole range of plant uses I began to develop participant based workshops. This led to a feature on BBC’s Countryfile in the 2015 Autumn special.

I take great pleasure in writing feature articles for horticultural magazines and have done so in the past for Cheshire Life, Country Kitchen and most national newspapers. I also enjoy doing wild plant identification and wild food cookery demonstrations and do on all of my courses, however I’ve also done this at RHS Tatton Park Feast Theatre.

I have now been running weekly workshops for 5 years now and include a huge range of tasters and other resources which allows everyone involved to learn something new. My key is to give you confidence to go out and pick wild edibles with reassurance in the future, as well as giving you a brilliant taste experience and memorable day.
