“Suffolk Market Events is delighted to have teamed up with The Foragers Feast to bring you even more fabulous foraging workshops over the next twelve months.

Carl Shillingford is an expert forager and a Michel Roux trained chef and Matthew Rooney is a hugely knowledgable ecologist and mushroom grower and together, as Foragers Feast, they run fabulous forages in beautiful Suffolk countryside followed by delicious wild food cooking demonstrations and tastings.

Foragers Feast really do provide a unique way of spending the day with true experts but spaces do get booked quickly so we suggest you reserve your space soon.

Wild Mushroom Forage & Cooking Demo

Autumn is the season when mushrooms are bountiful in woods and meadows and this workshop is a perfect opportunity to spend a day with Carl and Matthew discovering a rich variety of fungi and learning all about their shapes, colours, smells, textures and tastes – with at least 130 species of fungi recorded at Tiger Hill, from earth stars and bird’s nests to beefsteak and chicken of the woods, you are bound to have a very productive forage!

The day begins with a fabulous guided forage in the woods and fields of Tiger Hill, near Bures, deep in the gorgeous Suffolk countryside, before retiring to the field kitchen for refreshments followed by a mouth watering wild food cooking demo. Carl’s experience as a top chef knows no bounds and he really will delight you with incredible dishes created in front of you using the foraged ingredients and a simple gas burner.

The day will end with every forager receiving a Goodie Bag complete with information sheets, recipes and a selection of wild food products including hedgerow pesto, wild soup, dried mushrooms and mushroom sour dough.”
